The Oconto Marsh Refuge covers 4,000 acres just north of the City of Oconto on the west shore of Green Bay. One of the last remaining Great Lakes' wetlands, it is accessible by car on paved roads that make watching Forester Terns, eagles, raptors, herons, cranes and yellow-headed black birds both rewarding and comfortable. Hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails will transport you to your vacation destination. Clearly marked and well groomed cross-country ski trails let you swoosh through the Nicolet National Forest and Machickanee County Forest. These trails provide an excellent path to adventure as summer biking and hiking trails. Well-organized local trail-use clubs take great pride in the maintenance and mapping of the trail systems.
