Located just off of Hwy. 45 three miles north of Three Lakes, this 3,000- acre wildlife area offers a rare opportunity to observe the birds of a spruce and tamarack forest, as well as many species of marsh birds and waterfowl. The lakes and forests of Oneida County attract more than just outdoor adventurers—they’re also a major draw for wildlife.
Birdwatchers have a chance of seeing a number of different species of woodpeckers—including the three-toed woodpecker and the pileated woodpecker—as well as kingfishers, osprey, boreal chickadee, spruce grouse and gray jay. Resident birds include ruby-crowned kinglets, yellow rails, hooded-mergansers and kingfishers.
