Located on Hwy. 310 just west of Two Rivers, this 1200-acre reserve offers a variety of birding opportunities including ten species of warblers in summer. The Center includes marsh, meadow, dune and swale forest, cattail marsh, shrub swamp, native grasslands, swamp and prairie habitats, as well as 7.5 miles of nature trails. Explore interpretive center, butterfly garden, and two accessible boardwalks to learn about this remarkable wild area.
Hiking trails provide access to the Preserve while protecting wildlife. Each season offers opportunities: in winter, snowshoe Willow Trail; in spring, watch for sandhill cranes; in summer, find a monarch in the butterfly garden; and in autumn, celebrate the migration of the saw whet owl.
Enjoy the sight of waxy, yellow buttercups, hear the clear,whistled notes of an oriole, feel the swish of the wind through the hemlocks or feel the soft breast feathers of a bluebird at the bird banding station. The Center headquarters is open Mon-Fri 9am-4pm, Sat 9-11am.
