Located on Hwy 49 three miles east of Waupun, this 47-acre parcel on the northern edge of the Horicon Marsh is dedicated to research, rehabilitation and education. Facilities include an observation tower, picnic shelter, amphitheater, nature center with museum displays and exhibits, trail system and pond. You'll learn about the glacier that created the marsh, the wildlife that live here, the Native American tribes who loved it, the pioneers who drained it, and the conservationists who restored it. Get a fantastic "bird's eye view" of the marsh from the center's observation tower.

Mallards, blue- winged teal, coots, ruddy ducks, cormorants, herons, terns, and many other bird species commonly nest here. The Horicon Marsh is the largest nesting area for redhead ducks east of the Mississippi, with an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 nesting birds. In fact, more than 265 species of birds have been observed at Horicon Marsh during the different seasons. The greatest abundance of bird life is present during the spring and fall migration. Flocks of mallards, blue and green-winged teal, wigeons, ruddy ducks, shovelers, scaup, gadwells, and pintails are commonly seen. The Visitor Center contains a Live Bob-White Quail Display, Wildlife Art Gallery, Theater and Gift Shop and displays and exhibits depicting wildlife and their habitat in and around the Horicon Marsh.

Hours: Open spring, summer, and fall 10am-4pm Monday through Friday, Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm.
