Trails are provided for either hiking or skiing. In the event of no snow the show still goes on with candle light hiking! About 2 miles of skiing and 1 mile of hiking is the usual plan. Ski on one trail, hike on another! Ski 1 & 2 mile groomed candlelit loops. Hike or snowshoe 3/4 mile candlelit loop. (Leashed pets allowed on the hiking/snowshoe loop only. No pets on ski trails) If there is not snow all lit trails will be open for hiking.

The only cost for the event is a daily or annual park sticker which could be purchased upon arrival at the park. Trail passes are waived the night of the event.

More than a half-dozen Wisconsin State Parks, from Brule to Campbellsport, are hosted candlelight ski and hiking events. Campfires, hot chocolate, and perhaps a few nips, will fit nicely under a moon just a couple days short of full.

The locations listed here, include Harrington Beach State Park, the Zillmer Trails and Blue Mound State Park, close to Milwaukee and Madison. Peninsula State Park and Mirror State Park are also among the favorites for the candlelight ski evenings.
