Beautifully nestled on the banks of the Fox River, Heritage Hill brings history to life for thousands of visitors annually. Over 25 buildings have been restored to their original condition and appearance and can be entered by visitors. This area became the first American settlement west of Lake Michigan. Heritage Hill State Park is a popular destination for folks arriving from De Pere. Take a closer look at the past as you stroll through town during the last half of the 19th century.
The park has four period areas: Pioneer Heritage, Military Heritage, Small Town Heritage, and Agricultural Heritage. A visitor center greets you offering detailed park information, restrooms, drinking water, and sweeping views of the park including the Fox River, all of which served as a vital trading link from Montreal, through the Great Lakes, to the Fox-Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers.
At Fur Trade you will explore Bark Chapel, Fur Trader's Cabin, Maple Sugaring House, Court House, Court House Monument. At Fort Howard there are Fort Howard Hospital, Fort Howard School, Company Kitchen/Orderly Room, Officers' Quarters.
At Growing Community section you will find Moravian Church, Franklin Hose Company, YMCA Library, Print Shop, Blacksmith, Baird Law Office, Allouez Town Hall, Tank Cottage, Victorian Bandstand. And at Ethnic Agricultural Area there are Belgian Farm, Cheese Factory, Cotton House, Roadside Chapel, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Also offer summer camp and educational programme for kids.
