Peninsula State Park In Fish Creek, WI

On a peninsula jutting into Green Bay waters, the 3,776 acres of forest include four campgrounds, 468 campsites, winter skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and snowmobiling, bike trails, boat, fish, golf, swim, tennis, volleyball summer theater, a 125-year-old lighthouse, observation tower, an 18-hole golf course, a 40-foot memorial pole, the bluffs of Niagara dolomite, a sandy swimming beach, year-round Naturalist program. Visitors explore bays fringed by sand and cobblestone. Islands and ships can be viewed from the bluffs.


Nearly seven miles of Lake Michigan's Green Bay shoreline wrap around a landscape of forests, meadows and wetlands. Rocky bluffs ascend over 150 feet while deer graze contentedly in abandoned farm fields.

Look for gulls, terns, cormorants, waterfowl and shorebirds along shorelines. Spot pileated woodpeckers, redstarts, and ruffed grouse in Peninsula's forest. Deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, grey squirrels, red squirrels, red and gey foxes, coyotes and porcupines also call Peninsula home. Nearby Fish Creek has been referred to as the "Cape Cod of the Midwest" because of its quaint shops and beautiful shoreline. Horseshoe Island is the only nearby island that is owned by the State of Wisconsin.

Peninsula's cliffs have microhabitats alive with rare crustaceans, snails, and delicate ferns and flowers. Check also Peninsula State Park's Centennial Celebration.
