NOTE: Aquatic growth may hinder navigation in mid-summer.An intimate and scenic river, with many riffles and rapids. Excellent fly fishing, canoeing or kayaking on the sleepy yet breathtaking Yellow River flows out of Spooner Lake in Washburn County, through Burnett County to meet the St. Croix at Danbury.
Little has changed along these routes, and there are campsites located along the way for the true outdoor adventurers who make a longer than one day trip. Many campsites are situated along these waterways, which you'll find little changed from the days when fur traders and Native Americans met along their banks. And be sure not to miss Yellow River Bandits of Webster WI (an Official Cowboy Fast Draw Club) and Yellow River Echoes and Rendezvous events held each year. Yellow River Campground, Pontoon & Fishing Boat Rental, Canoes & Kayak Rental also available. For detailed information on canoeing in Burnett County and Northwestern Wisconsin, a map/guide book is available from the Tourism Information Office.
