Train Excursions at Rusk County Rail Museum in Ladysmith, WI

This new rail museum opened in the fall of 1998 is a faithful reproduction of an early 1900's Soo Line depot. Located on the Rusk County fair grounds in Ladysmith Wisconsin, Behind and to the left is the Gates county court house and right is the "Red school house". The grounds are a popular event location.

The County Fair is held the second weekend in August, but outside of that the grounds also hold little league games, animal shows, music festivals, 4-H events, and an ice skating rink in the winter. The museum features displays of Rusk County's railroad heritage, including photos, maps and artifacts. Also on the grounds are the Soo Line's first passenger diesel, 500A (built 1949); Soo Line RPO-REA car 552 (1911); Soo Line combine 358 (1913); Soo Line 1st class coach 998 (1911) and Wisconsin Central caboose 99103 (1911). Open year-round. Call ahead for seasonal schedule.
